Everybody has his own opinion or vision about the future of food. Will it be more personal? Extreme healthy? More transparent with the help of blockchain? I believe that in 30-40 years or so we will no longer need to kill any animals and that all meat will either be clean or plant-based, taste the same and also be much healthier for everyone. One day we will look back and think how old-fashioned our grandparents were in killing animals for food. People like Charles Branson, Bill Gates and companies like Cargill (one of the largest agricultural corporations in the world) invested heavily in projects like the Memphis Meats and Beyond Meat. So-called clean-meat startups, creating great-tasting food without live animals. Some consumers prefer to know their meat comes from a familiar source, but lab grown meat may be the inevitable future of food.
The world loves to eat meat, and it is core to many of our cultures and traditions but meat demand is growing rapidly around the world. But the way conventional meat is produced today creates challenges for the environment, animal welfare and human health.
Of course we are still not there yet. The bottom line is that no matter how much you love animal meat — perhaps even at the expense of its impact on the world — it’s simply not sustainable. Eventually, we will need alternatives, and I really belief if this lab-grown meat would be spported by the government (because of more sustainable) and prices are at the same level or cheaper, an animal friendly alternative will please a lot of millennials in the future.
