What is included in the price of a learning journey?
The price of a learning journey includes:
- Overnight stays with breakfast in a 3 or 4 star hotel
- Lunch and dinner on full training days (Diners not payable via SME portfolio)
- Beverage during meals (wine, beer, water, soft drinks)
- Local transport: rental car, parking, coach, public transport (bus, tram, metro) or other.
- Speakers, visits and access fees
- Transport to and from the destination, unless otherwise stated (Not payable through the SME portfolio).
- Drinks and snacks outside the meals.
- Personal costs in the hotel (eg minibar, …)
How do I apply for a subsidy through the SME portfolio?
Can I use my SME portfolio?
The Argonauts are certified as a training institute for the SME portfolio and thus you can receive a subsidy of up to 40% from the Flemish government on the training part of your learning trajectory, if your company is located in Flanders. However, travel expenses and dinners are not eligible for payment through your SME portfolio and are stated separately on the invoice if applicable. Usually you as a participant take care of the travel costs yourself (flights, train tickets, …).

How much subsidy can I receive?
This depends on the size of your company
A small company that invests in training and advice can receive 40 percent support through the SME portfolio. You receive a maximum of € 10,000 support per year.
A medium-sized company that invests in training and advice can receive 30 percent support through the SME portfolio. You receive a maximum of € 15,000 per year.

Are you not 100 percent sure whether you have a small or medium-sized company? Then this schedule clarifies that. The official size of your SME depends on you:

What do I do if my company is located in the Brussels region?

For which courses can you benefit from support?
Will following a course increase the operation or the competitiveness of your company? Whether it is for yourself or your staff, you can make an application for support if the training is exceptional or urgent and if this training costs at least € 1,000. This means that you can not rely on this support in the following cases:
- the training covers the normal daily operations of your company
- the program is linked to the basic knowledge of your company’s activities.
In general, costs for accommodation, travel and meals are also not eligible.
You can freely choose the training institution. The conditions are: the institution must be independent of your company, specialize in the subject matter and have at least two years’ experience. The Argonauts meets these conditions as an official training institute.
